Where do balsamic strawberries come from?

Fragole all-aceto balsamico - This is a classic Italian dessert that comes from the Emilia-Romagna region of Italy. Its basic form involves soaking fruit in lemon juice and sugar, but Italians have taken this dish to the next level in a simple and elegant way with balsamic vinegar. The acidity of the vinegar is a wonderful way to bring your strawberries to life and the sweet, balsamic element enhances their flavour. To top it off, it gives them an incredible, shiny glaze.

High-quality organic ingredients

At Real Italiano, our ethos focuses on allowing customers to savour the true taste of Italy and the nutritional benefits of organic Italian cuisine, so we source our ingredients from Italy in support of Italian families and farmers.

As well as supporting local Italian businesses, organic living means that you can enjoy great food and tasty ingredients without any artificial additives or pesticides. Instead, you have the peace of mind that your ingredients have been produced and farmed naturally.

Casa Rinaldi Organic Balsamic Vinegar

For this recipe, we opted for all organic ingredients such as the Casa Rinaldi Organic Balsamic Vinegar to maximise on freshness and quality. The unique flavour and aroma of this balsamic vinegar give the strawberries an intense, sweet and sour glaze that balances perfectly with the rich and creamy burrata.

We also used organic strawberries, which are tastier and more nutritious than conventionally-grown strawberries, and organic burrata for a unique, unmistakable, and fresh taste of traditional Italian delicacy.

What are the benefits of organic food?

There are plenty of benefits of organic living, such as:

Organic strawberries
  • More nutritious - Organically-grown produce tends to be more nutritious, with higher levels of antioxidants than conventionally-grown food.
  • Pesticide-free - Organic farming is backed by a rigorous certification process, meaning that crops are free from pesticides, chemicals, and toxic additives. By shopping organic, you can be sure that your homemade meals are made with clean and natural ingredients.

  • Natural - Organic standards ensure that organic fruit and veg is natural and not genetically modified or washed in chlorine, and livestock is not fed with GM foods.

  • Better for the environment - Organic processes are better for the planet as they promotes soil health. They also help reduce water pollution and attract more wildlife that helps take care of the crops that we eat.

  • Better for animals - One of the main principles of organic farming is making sure that animals have plenty of space, fresh air, and access to their natural conditions. They also won’t be given any hormones or antibiotics that would otherwise make its way into our food.

Celebrate organic living with Real Italiano

Our Real Italiano chefs are celebrating organic living with this special recipe, inspired by unmistakeable Italian flavours. Balsamic vinegar and strawberries may not sound like a natural combination, but it’s a popular choice in Italy and, trust us, it works!

The unique mixture of sharp balsamic vinegar, sweet strawberries, and creamy Italian burrata is unforgettable. We particularly love that the vinegar enhances the sweetness of the berries and brings out their beautiful red colour, which makes this dish an excellent eye-catcher if you’re hosting a get-together.

This is also a great way to make the most of your strawberries if they’re nearing their use-by date. The balsamic coating helps hide any imperfections and boost their flavour.
